Gelston
Gelston is a small settlement approximately 2 miles to the south west of Hough on the Hill. It is referred to in the Domesday Book as “Chevelestune”. Standing prominently on the village green is a Saxon cross dating from the 8th or ninth century, reputed to have been vandalised by Oliver Cromwell.
